I also use this charger to power-up my iPad, Blackberry Smartphone, and Bluetooth headset. It charges the devices in an hour with using a 9W, 1.8amp. It's great for traveling and storage since it is so compact and small. When not in use, you can fold the prongs up.

The only negative about this charger is that it is not included with the Kindle. But I will say, I have wasted $10 on worst things. I'm getting my money's worth and more.

Also, if you decide to travel out of the country, you will need a plug adapter just as you did for the above charger. But if you already have one, don't worry about purchasing another.

Make sure that your adapter is compatible with whatever country you are traveling to because some adapters are country specific.

If you forgot to purchase a charger with your Kindle Fire and have to pay $20 instead of $10, it is still worth the money. The charger does what it says. I totally drained my Kindle battery and it charged it in an hour. You can also charge other mobile devices including your iPad.
