Generally, running the home server allows you to connect several computers by just a few basic but simple steps. The first thing you need to do is to identify the type of server you are running on. Check if you are running on a wireless and wired server. The wired ones have been in the market for sometime now while the wireless ones are somewhat recent.
Generally, a wired network will require Ethernet cable to connect. You will need to plug in the Ethernet cable onto your computer and also onto the server's modem. Upon plugging in the Ethernet cable and switching on the computer, you should be able to see an LED light up at the computer port. You will see one or two monitors at the bottom left of your screen depending on the type of connection you are running on. This is basically an indication that you have connected successfully.
Once connected, you'll need to right click the icons at the bottom left of your computer screen which are basically one or two small monitors to search for connections. Generally, it will take the computer lesser time to find the server on a wired connection than on a wireless connection. Upon finding the connection, you'll now need to click on connections button on the drop down menu and enter your password to connect.
