Since June 2011, the certification is in Version 7.1 but the new version V8 has just been launched. The v7 and v8 exam costs 500 US dollars and is administered through computer at an EC-Council Accredited Training Center.
The International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) presents numerous certifications in various IT security fields, including secure programming, disaster recovery, infiltration testing, and common IT security knowledge. Its most excellent certification is known as Certified Ethical Hacker.
Apart from the certification for ethical hackers, the EC-Council also gives a certification known as Certified Network Defense Architect. Though both have different name, the content of the course is pretty much the same and this certification is intended for United States Government Agencies.
